As a transgender person, I stand firmly with my brothers and sisters on stopping discrimination against us everywhere. With that being said, the recent participation of trans people in high school and college athletic events has prompted me to make this statement. Male Or Female Born or Trans, the playing field has to be level. Biology does matter in some cases and to that we need to defer. I do not have a solution to offer but there has to be one. the playing field must be level and all must compete fairly. I do not think banning trans athletes from competition is fair to Trans people. Nor do I think having a biological male person compete in female sports is fair. There are too many differences in male and female anatomy that do not change with transition. Mark me, many things do change, loss of muscle mass, energy levels, stamina. All that goes away very quickly with the loss of testosterone. But the structural differences still remain. I am not posting this to create an argument. Please do not respond to this post with angry retorts. I am expressing my thoughts and opinions on the subject and they are subject to modification as more information becomes available. if you have an idea to level the playing field please put it out there.
